Hey! I don’t know about you, but even though I have been forced to slow down and just keep a slower pace these days, it seems like my mind is extremely engaged with so much more! It’s like I have 14 tabs open in my brain….and 4 of them are frozen. So, I am here to remind you that creating a sense of normalcy is important to your mental health and the mental health of your kiddos.
One of the ways to create a sense of normalcy while social distancing, obsessing over where your next hit of TP will come from, and trying to keep the kids busy, is to remember the holidays! Keep as many family traditions alive that you can, and even look into starting new ones. Traditions bind people together, create memories, and define families.
Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day. As you may know, leprechauns can be tricky little fellows, so let them dye your milk green or leave a trail of lucky charms to their stash of gold coins. Then, think about using these FREE St. Patrick’s Day Activities for Kids!
Host a St. Patty’s Day Breakfast for Your Family
Just because you might be practicing social distancing doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun! Many kids are home from school, so start the day off with a fun St. Patty’s Day breakfast!
Step 1: Invite Your Lucky Guests
Invite All Your Lucky Guests
Just because you might be keeping your party guests within the family, that doesn’t mean that you don’t need to dispense with the formalities. Print out the free party invitations for each member of the family. You can announce that you’ve received invitations to the most exclusive party in the neighborhood. Announce each family member’s name with fanfare as you pass out the invites.
Step 2: Get Creative with Decorations
You don’t always have to spend an enormous amount of money on decorations. If you have a green backyard, this may just be the right amount of decoration, without having to spend any extra money. Take your party outside and hand out these golden tickets for your guests to hand over while entering your leprechaun exclusive party.
Step 4: Design the Food Table
As the clock gets closer to your party and green food starts popping out of the oven, off the stove, and even fresh out of the fridge or freezer have these food label printables ready to go. Print and cut them out before your party and attach them to sticks to easily add to each food group. This way your guests can easily navigate the food table to ensure they add everything they want to their brunch plate. And, don’t worry if you can’t find all of the food that you want at the grocery store….be creative!
Step 5: Celebrate With Friendly Competition
Really get your party going by handing out this St. Patrick’s Day Trivia. There’s nothing better than learning about this famous holiday over some friendly competition and some good food. Who knows, the one that gets all the answers correct may just win a lucky prize!
Step 6: Make Your Own at Home Photo Booth
You must take pictures for your friends and family to look back on for many years to come! To make this even more special, cut out our photo booth props. Even tape them to a stick to hold up and make funny faces while looking at the camera. It’s always healthy to have a good laugh!
Step 7: Spot the Gold
There has to be some gold hidden somewhere in your house! While one of you starts wrapping up dinner, have a sneaky little leprechaun rummage around your place to leave some extra gold treasures. Hand out this St. Patty’s Day Hunt printable to see if your guests can find any in any of the most frequently hidden areas!
Enjoy the fun, make some memories, and continue to celebrate the holidays! I hope you enjoyed these FREE St. Patrick’s Day Activities for Kids.
