Every year as my boys start school, we have a Back to School dinner. They choose the menu–this year it was baby back ribs, baked potatoes, and beans. We also make yummy cupcakes for dessert. We also choose an inspirational quote to be our family “theme” for the upcoming school year.
This year the quotes were as follows, “May We Maintain the Courage to Defy the Consensus.” and “May we Ever Choose the Harder Right Instead of the Easier Wrong.”
Both quotes are by Thomas S. Monson, a man who we greatly love and admire.
When I was young, I was so shy. I didn’t find my “voice” until well into my 20’s. I want to instill in my boys the desire and ability to be brave and courageous; to never be afraid to speak up, and to have enough internal drive and commitment to choose the harder right.
